I am in my junior year at IUPUI. I am studying Elementary education, and have just begun my student teaching. I grew up going to church, and was involved in the church’s youth group. However, my view of God was that he was there when I needed him, or if things were going wrong I would look to him to fix everything. But I lived for myself, I wanted to be known, and have my life be about me. When I came to college, I met a woman who began to tell me about Jesus. Through our friendship I realized that I was not what I was claiming to be. At one of our weekly meetings the speaker described the death of Jesus. That night I realized that I had offended God with my sin, and that Jesus loved me so much he was willing to die for my sin so that I could have a relationship with God. That night I trusted in Jesus. Ever since then I have had a desire to know God and to read the Bible. I also desire to go out and tell others about how he has radically changed my life.
Why does she want to go to the Orlando Project?
I want to invest 10 weeks this summer to grow and my walk with the Lord and get to know him more. I also want come alongside other students and serve them while they grow in their personal relationship with God.
What is she hoping to learn this summer?
Something that I want to learn is how to disciple women and equip them to go back to their campus and share with other students.
What is she most excited about for this summer?
I am most excited to see others grow in their love for Jesus and to see how God will work in them a desire to share their faith with others. I am also excited to learn from the other students, leaders, and staff member. I am also excited to see God work in and through my life for his glory.
